Terms of Use

Please read these terms carefully before using Stream Director. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Stream Director ("we", "us", or "our"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the service. We may update these Terms at any time with 14 days notice. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

2. The service

Stream Director provides a live stream chat curation and overlay tool for use with broadcasting software such as OBS Studio. The service includes a web-based Director Console, an OBS browser source overlay, and integrations with YouTube and Twitch.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice for material changes.

3. Your account

  • You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Stream Director.
  • You may not share your account or allow others to access it on your behalf except through the team invitation system.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Stream Director to:

  • Display content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit
  • Infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party
  • Violate YouTube's Terms of Service, Twitch's Terms of Service, or any platform you connect
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or other users' accounts
  • Use the service to send spam or unsolicited messages
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the service
  • Resell or sublicense access to the service without our written consent

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we determine you have violated these terms.

5. Subscriptions and billing

Free plan. The free plan is provided at no cost and may be modified or discontinued at any time. It includes a Stream Director watermark on overlays.

Paid plans. Paid subscriptions are billed monthly in advance in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days notice.

Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time from the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

Non-payment. If payment fails, your account will be downgraded to the Free plan after a grace period. Outstanding balances remain due.

All payments are processed by Stripe and subject to their terms of service.

6. Your content

Chat messages displayed through Stream Director originate from YouTube, Twitch, or other platforms and are the content of their respective authors. You are responsible for ensuring that content you choose to display complies with applicable laws and the terms of the originating platform.

You retain ownership of any content you create within Stream Director (overlay themes, saved announcements, workspace settings). You grant us a limited licence to store and process this content solely to provide the service.

7. Third-party integrations

Stream Director integrates with YouTube (Google), Twitch, and Stripe. Your use of these platforms is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of these third-party services. Changes to their APIs may affect Stream Director functionality.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Stream Director is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. Your use of the service is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, we disclaim all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stream Director and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost revenue, lost data, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or NZ$100, whichever is greater.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New Zealand. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
